Nancy Bigham

Nancy Bigham Nancy Bigham started Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu in 1979 and has been teaching since 1983. She received her Godan in 2006. She is continuing her studies of Danzan Ryu under Professor Robert Hudson, Shichidan, and recently started the study of Shorin Ryu Karate and Kobudo at Oshiro Dojo in San Mateo. She has been an active member of the American Judo & Jujitsu Federation since 1980 and serves as the Accounting Committee Chair. Nancy joined Kodai No Bushido as an instructor in 1993 and took over as joint school head with her husband, Matt, in 1995.

In addition to her rank in Jujitsu, Nancy holds certificates in and practices Okazaki Restorative Massage. She has been approved by the AJJF to teach athletic taping to meet AJJF Dan requirements and has been certified by the American Red Cross in Community First-Aid and CPR since 1982. She was an certified instructor in the R.A.D. System of Basic Physical Defense for Women from 1997 to 2006.

Matt Bigham

Matt started his studies in Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu in June of 1976 with Professor Bob Hudson.

In March of 1980 he received his Shodan and in 1988 Matt received his Nidan.

Matt and Nancy have been co-school heads since 1983 for Suni Tani/Ketojin, Laurel Jujitsu, Ternion Academy and now Kodai No Bushido.

Matt has guided many people to black belt and a number of them have gone on to become AJJF School Heads.

As a member of the Board of Managers for the American Judo & Jujitsu Federation, Matt was the Manager of Central Office from 1984 to 1991 and then went on to be the Manager of Finance from 1992 to the present. Matt worked very closely with the Manager of Development, Vern Brekke, to develop the AJJF's School Handbook. The Handbook helps the national schools to be more effective in their dealing with the organization.

Jaya R. Carl

Jaya R. Carl Jaya started the study of Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu in 1986 with Matt and Nancy Bigham. Jaya received his Shodan in 1990, Nidan in 1994 and Sandan in 1997.

Jaya joined Kodai No Bushido (then known as Ternion Academy of Martial Arts) in 1990 when Vern and Tanya Brekke were school heads. He started teaching regular classes at Kodai No Bushido in 1994.

Pete St. Pierre

Pete St. Pierre Sensei St. Pierre started his study of Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu in 1993. He is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu, member of the American Judo and Jujitsu Federation, and a Certified Restoration Therapy Technician.
